Bowie was tough, but we knew he was pretty ill. Prince dying before 60 is a terrible surprise. I would have guessed him to be eternal. His Super Bowl performance stands out as my favorite, and I loved that all the gossip about him was about how interesting or cool he was – never negative.

Dude was a magical recluse, and his folklore will be outlived only by his music. I hope you dig deep into the archives and find stuff you haven’t heard before to help you understand just what we lost today.

He was a combination of Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, Rodgers & Hammerstein, and Rick James, all rolled into a lethal package that seemed beyond human. He was one of our last actual mega-stars; he didn’t look, act, or think like the guy next door – he was a full-on rock star minus the typical negative drama.

Since it’s damn near impossible to find his music anywhere linkable, I’ve decided to take the law into my own hands and upload the most fitting song I can think of today.

R.I.P.

Oh, and here’s that Super Bowl performance.
